Remembering our beloved Barbaro on the anniversary of his passing January 29th.
Thank you to everyone who has purchased my licensed jewelry designs for him. As I wrote a check today for The Fund for Laminitis Research at The University of Pennsylvania, I realized in March it will be 9 years since this license and introduction of the designs. I remember when I contacted Mrs. Jackson with the idea and received approval to begin the process. I asked her for some photos and she sent only one… it was taken the morning of the Preakness as he was looking out of his stall before that fateful race. How would I use this loved picture of him and translate it into a jewelry design. I could not think of what it should be. After several days it came to me….make it a heart shaped design. Barbaro “won” the heart of Americans everywhere…and even those abroad…so it seemed fitting. He was…and will be in our hearts forever!!
