Horses, Donkeys, and Mules to benefit from Jane Heart Jewelry: Brooke USA Announces partnership in support of international equine welfare programs
LEXINGTON, Ky (September 13, 2018) Brooke USA, sister charity of Brooke, the world’s largest international equine welfare charity, is pleased to announce a cause-related sales alliance with Jane Heart LLC in the creation of mule and donkey pendants.
The pendants, which will benefit equine welfare programs around the world, are the newest in a succession of unique pieces created by Jane Heart to benefit other noteworthy horses and charities, such as the Secretariat Foundation (Secretariat), The Fund for Laminitis Research (Barbaro), the Kentucky Horse Park Foundation (Man o’ War), Old Friends (American Pharoah) and the United States Dressage Federation (Ravel).
Jane Heart, who has been manufacturing and marketing equestrian jewelry since 1994, stated, “Until now, all of my jewelry designs have been based on racehorses and sport horses, but through Brooke USA, I’ve learned that 11 million mules and 43 million donkeys are supporting 324 million people in the developing world.
“I wanted to do a piece that would honor those hard-working animals, give mule and donkey lovers a beautiful piece of jewelry, and support Brooke USA’s international equine welfare programs. So the ‘Brooke USA Mule and Donkey’ pendants were born.” The designs are based on actual animals who have been helped by Brooke’s equine welfare programs.
A percentage of the sales of the Brooke USA Mule and Donkey pendants will be donated to Brooke USA. The pendants are available in sterling silver, and gold with sterling. All gold pieces are available upon request.
The mission of Brooke USA, headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky, is to significantly improve the welfare of working horses, donkeys and mules and the people they serve throughout Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America by raising funds and responsibly directing them to the areas of greatest need. His likeness has come to life in the designs by Jane Heart to honor him and his incredible accomplishment. Ashley Zayat, owner of American Pharoah, recalls her emotions on his amazing win saying “When he won we all started crying. There were no words to describe it. I have never felt a grandstand shake like that. It was a fantastic feeling that I don’t think I’ll ever experience again.”
Not only did American Pharoah win the elusive 2015 Triple Crown and the 2015 Breeder’s Cup to claim the Grand Slam, but he became a joy and inspiration to so many of his fans. The letters received testify how he has touched so many people and “changed their lives and brought smiles to their faces….we’re all blessed to be part of this.” His sweet, kind, and loving personality has been evidenced by all who have seen him up close including Jane who visited with him after his Triple Crown win. “Being in his presence was just amazing….I cried tears of joy and did not want to wash my face or hands! Now being able to design jewelry for him is a dream come true”.

JANE HEART JOCKEY CAP JEWELRY BENEFITS PERMANENTLY DISABLED JOCKEYS FUND
Lexington, KY (October 30, 2015) Jane Heart LLC is pleased to announce the new Jockey Cap Collection that will benefit the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund. Created in 2006 by leaders in the horse racing industry, PDJF assists jockeys who have suffered ontrack catastrophic injuries. PDJF is an independent public charity that has disbursed over $6.0 million dollars and currently supports 60 permanently disabled jockeys, most of whom have paralysis or traumatic brain injuries. Nancy Lasala, President of PDJF, is “grateful for the support of our many industry partners who are committed to the welfare of these men and women, and we welcome Jane Heart to help in this important cause. The PDJF is able to bring much needed financial assistance to a group of athletes who have given so much to the sport of horse racing.” A portion of the proceeds from each design sold will benefit PDJF.
Jane commented “In reviewing my racehorse designs for Secretariat, Barbaro, and Man o’ War, it seemed a natural that a new design would be a jockey cap to highlight and recognize the greatness of the human athlete in this dynamic sport. My inspiration also came from spending some time at various Secretariat Foundation events over the past several years with Ron Turcotte, the renowned Hall of Fame jockey of Secretariat and the well-known ambassador for PDJF. Ron’s tireless efforts to raise money for PDJF and his winning smile and kindness to all during his autograph session appearances is truly admirable. Being next to him and seeing the appreciation his fans, young and old alike, have for him and how he responds to their every comment and question is heartwarming. Ron truly has been an inspiration to me, and I look forward to help raise funds for PDJF.”
The Jockey Cap designs come in two different size sterling silver charms and one features goggles as an accent. Hand polished and finished after casting in the USA, these adorable charms can also come hand enameled in a variety of jockey silk colors in either solid color or two tone. Custom colors are available upon request. Pricing for the charms start at $65.00 and can also come as pendants, on bracelets, and as cuff links. Each piece comes with the Jane Heart logo stamp inside and arrives in a velvet pouch with a commemorative card for PDJF. Jane Heart Jewelry for Man o’ War Benefits the Kentucky Horse Park Foundation
Jane Heart’s 20 year celebration of jewelry design is highlighted by the introduction of jewelry for Man o’ War, the mighty red chestnut 20th Century thoroughbred champion. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Kentucky Horse Park Foundation for the preservation of his statue and final resting place. This special design shows Man o’ War’s strength and power with his noble, bold, slightly Roman looking head. With lineage to many of this century’s top thoroughbreds, Man o’ War was rated by Bloodhorse magazine, the Associated Press, and Sports Illustrated as the #1 Thoroughbred horse of the 20th century and inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1957. His pedigree can be traced back to the Godolphin Arabian which is one of the only three foundation thoroughbred sires.
Born and bred in Kentucky, he brought international recognition to Kentucky breeders and made Kentucky the racing center of the world in his time. Nearly every American champion of the last 20 years can trace their pedigree back to Man o’ War including War Admiral, his son, who won the Triple Crown in 1937. Seabiscuit was one of his grandsons and Tiznow, Zenyatta, and Rachel Alexandra have Man o’ War in their bloodlines as well as Triple Crown winners Seattle Slew in 1977, and Affirmed in 1978.
Owned and bred by August Belmont, Jr. whose father’s accomplishments resulted in the naming of the Belmont Stakes, Man o’ War had a stellar racing career winning 20 of 21 races with his only loss due to an inferior starting process and only by a half-length. Although he did not run in the Kentucky Derby, known for his speed and 28-foot stride, Man o’ War won the Preakness in record setting time and the Belmont by 20 lengths. He was so loved and respected that he had a military funeral.
“Over the past few years my love for the Kentucky Horse Park and the joy that it brings to those who visit and learn about the wonderful world of the horse inspired me to think about an appropriate horse to design in jewelry. While walking through the International Museum of the horse with Pat Warren, the Gift Shop manager, I knew it had to be Man o’ War. John Hervey, a racing historian, said: “He touched the imagination of men and they saw different things in him. But one thing they all remember was that he brought exaltation into their hearts.” I believe he still does for those who have been the first to see the jewelry and purchase and immediately put on to wear. That is the feeling I always hope to create with my designs.” To quote some words from Walter Farley, author of the book Man o’ War, he was “statuesque, magnificent, had deep, intelligent eyes, a regal lift of his head, and he gazed fixed and far away like he had a vision.” It is truly an honor to do jewelry that everyone can wear to catch some small part of Man o’ War and bring to their own life. Man o’ War was regal, had charisma, stamina, courage, and heart…qualities of a great athlete and a horse like none other. His legacy as a racehorse and sire will live on, and I am honored to be a part of enhancing it through the jewelry.”
Highlighted by a large sterling silver pendant, the Jane Heart Man o’ War Collection is also available in a small pendant and charm with prices starting at $115.00. Each piece is stamped with his name on the back and comes in a gift box with pouch and commemorative card. Available in 14k gold by request.
Visit the website at www.janeheart.com or call 1-888-703-0503. Currently available now also at the Kentucky Horse Park Gift Shop and Keeneland Gift shop, both in Lexington, Kentucky.

FEBRUARY 14, 2011
Jane Heart announces the introduction of her original, licensed jewelry designs of the incomparable 1973 Triple Crown Winner Secretariat.
America’s champion, fondly known as Big Red, became a hero and a symbol for hope. His legacy as the greatest racehorse of all time has endured to this day. From the cover of Time magazine to his very own United States postal stamp, Secretariat’s image has been an inspiration to those that have followed his career and continue to love him even now.
“I am honored to have the license to design jewelry for Secretariat. He, indeed, followed his heart with his tremendous passion for running and has been an inspiration to me to continue to follow my own heart. Being an extra in the movie was indeed a thrill, and later seeing it to experience the drive and confidence of Mrs. Chenery achieving her dreams was a memorable event for me. The voice of Chic Anderson from CBS television said it all….”he is running like a tremendous machine!” May these designs of Secretariat also inspire you to pursue your dreams and reach the highest level of your ability.”
All Jane Heart Secretariat designs are made and hand finished in Arizona. The styles include a large and small pendant, charm, charm bracelet, brooch, cuff links, small lapel pin, and earrings. MARCH 7, 2008
Jane Heart announces the introduction of her original, licensed jewelry designs of the charismatic race horse Barbaro. Through his valiant fight to recover from a broken leg and then laminitis, he touched our hearts with his courage and incredible spirit. In cooperation with Gretchen Jackson, Jane has adapted a favorite picture of Barbaro, looking out of his stall the morning of the Preakness, to an inspirational heart design. “Our powerful heart center is our guide in this world to help us on our path. It aligns us and helps us stay true to ourselves if we listen and follow its messages. As we know, Barbaro had an incredible amount of heart and was destined for greatness with his speed and love of racing. This design, whether we wear it or just look at it, will be an inspirational reminder of the great heart of Barbaro and give us hope and courage.”
“Mrs. Jackson said Barbaro had a “way of looking, of knowing.” Maybe he knew he had a special mission that would have an impact on the future of the wellness of all horses. From the establishment of many research funds, to legislation for the protection of horses, Barbaro has produced a groundswell that is his legacy. His name will endure forever, and record how he inspired many to make strides forward that will help his fellow horses and those who love and care for them. Barbaro has pointed the way for us to do the same – to follow his lead and be of service and enrich this world through worthy causes that need champions. He has shown us that each of us has a unique and special purpose, and that we can help others whether it be man or animals in very important ways.”
“We also learned other things from Barbaro that we can apply to our lives every day. He inspired us in many ways, by first showing us how it feels to win when we follow our hearts and our passion by developing our talents and strengths. He showed us how to handle adversity with calmness, intelligence, a remarkable spirit, and a strong will to live. Barbaro also brought us all together and proved that we are all connected through the power of love.”
“When Mrs. Jackson spoke about Barbaro, she hoped that “each of us might find a certain path that interests us” in regard to horses. Mine was to find a cause to support that would benefit horses and their owners through my jewelry designs. When I read about the Laminitis Fund, I immediately knew that this was my direction. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each piece will go to the Fund for Laminitis Research at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. I am truly grateful that I was inspired by Barbaro to design this jewelry, and honored that Mr. and Mrs. Jackson granted me the license. I thank you, in advance, for your support of the Laminitis Fund through the purchase of these keepsake pieces. May these designs of Barbaro inspire you on your life’s journey, and his heart, spirit, and guidance be with you always. With his heart…he inspires ours.”
The first Jane Heart designs of Barbaro are a heart brooch or tie tack pin that retail for $210 and the heart pendant on a snake chain for $235 in sterling silver. This design will also be available in gold. Other styles and Limited Edition pieces will be announced as they are developed.
All Jane Heart designs are made and hand finished in Arizona. Each piece has the Barbaro trademark stamp on the back above the Jane Heart logo stamp and arrives in a gift box with a commemorative card with the message…”With his heart…he inspires ours.” The designs are available to order on line at www.janeheart.com with delivery by April 10, 2008. Retail locations will be announced at a later date.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each piece will go to the Fund for Laminitis Research at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.
